Aerospace and defense is the core of our Dallas work. DFW is home to airframe, rotorcraft, missile and defense electronics plants, plus the tiered suppliers that feed them. Those buyers need welds made to AWS D17.1 and records that hold up in an audit.
See how we support this market on our aerospace and defense welding page, and our aerospace TIG welding service.
AWS D17.1 Weld Classes
AWS D17.1 sorts welds into Class A, B and C, with Class A being the most critical. The engineering drawing sets the class. Learn more in our AWS D17.1 procurement guide.
ITAR-Controlled Work
Defense drawings often carry ITAR export controls.
AS9100 Quality System
Many primes require AS9100 from their weld suppliers.
Dallas anchors a metro area of more than 8 million people and one of the largest manufacturing bases in Texas.
Precision Stainless TIG Welding Services in Dallas
Our Dallas shop handles more than aerospace. These services run out of the same shop, with the same procedures and records.
Precision Stainless TIG Welding
Thin-wall and close-tolerance stainless parts. See precision stainless TIG welding.
Sanitary Tube Welding
Purged, crevice-free tube welds for food, dairy and medical lines. See sanitary tube welding.
Custom Stainless Fabrication
Frames, tanks, enclosures and weldments built to print. See custom stainless fabrication.
Pipe and Pressure Vessel Welding
Code pipe and pressure work to ASME Section IX procedures. See pipe and pressure vessel welding.
Materials and Filler Alloys We Weld in Dallas
The base metal sets the filler, gas and heat limits. We check your mill test report against the drawing before we weld.
ER308L and ER316L Stainless Filler
ER308L matches 304 and 304L. ER316L adds molybdenum for chloride resistance and matches 316 and 316L. Compare them in ER308L vs. ER316L filler rod.
ER309L for Stainless to Carbon Steel
Dissimilar joints use ER309L to handle dilution from the carbon steel side. See TIG welding 304 stainless to carbon steel.
Argon Shielding and Back Purge
Tube and closed shapes get an argon back purge so the root stays clean. This prevents sugaring. Read preventing sugaring in stainless tube.
I-35E, I-30, and I-45 link Dallas to Fort Worth, Houston, and the rest of Texas.
Why Work With a Local Dallas Welding Shop
A supplier you can drive to makes precision work easier to manage. These are the practical benefits of keeping welding close to home.
Easier Source Inspection
Being close makes in-person first article reviews and source inspections practical instead of a travel expense.
Faster Answers on Drawings
Questions about weld symbols, fit-up, or tolerances can be settled in one call or a short meeting at the part.
Less Freight Risk
Fewer miles mean less crating, fewer handoffs, and less chance of damage to thin or polished parts.
Shorter Total Lead Time
No multi-day transit each way, which matters most on prototypes and rush repairs.
How to Get a TIG Welding Quote From Dallas
Quoting works the same whether your plant is across town or across the country. Use the steps below, or go straight to the request a quote form.
- Send your drawings or models with the revision, material, and quantity
- Call out the weld spec, such as AWS D17.1, AWS D18.1, or ASME Section IX
- Tell us the inspection, finish, and records you need, and your required date
- We review the drawing and ask any questions before we price it
- You get a written quote with price and lead time
Choosing a TIG Welding Shop in Dallas
DFW has hundreds of welding and fabrication shops, and most of them build structural steel. Precision TIG work on thin stainless and alloys is a different skill set. Check these points before you send a drawing.
Qualified Procedures
Ask for written weld procedures and welder qualifications that match your material, thickness, and code.
Purge and Weld Color
Stainless tube and thin parts need argon back-purge. Ask how the shop controls it and what weld color it accepts.
Inspection and Records
Find out which inspections are done in-house, and which records ship with the parts.
The Right Fit for the Job
A structural shop is built for beams and stairs. Thin, precise, or code-critical parts belong with a precision TIG shop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your Dallas shop?
Our headquarters and shop are in Dallas, Texas. Please call ahead before dropping off parts.
Do you weld aerospace parts to AWS D17.1 in Dallas?
Tell us the weld class on your drawing so we can match the right procedure and welder.
Can you handle ITAR drawings?
Please do not send controlled technical data until we confirm how to receive it.
Do you pick up and deliver in Dallas-Fort Worth?
Many local customers also drop off and pick up at the shop.
How fast can a Dallas job turn around?
Rush jobs depend on shop load, so call us at (346) 561-0862 with your date.
What is the difference between a precision welding shop and a structural steel fabricator?
Structural fabricators build beams, columns, stairs, and frames, mostly to AWS D1.1 with MIG, stick, or flux-core welding. Precision shops TIG weld thin stainless, aluminum, and alloy parts to tight tolerances, clean weld color, and specs such as AWS D17.1 or D18.1.
What should I send with a welding RFQ?
Send the drawing with its revision, the material, quantity, weld spec, inspection and finish requirements, records needed, and your required date. Complete RFQs get faster and firmer quotes.
Is TIG welding more expensive than MIG welding?
TIG is slower, so the labor cost per inch of weld is higher. On thin, visible, or code-critical parts it often costs less overall, because it needs less grinding and rework and is often what the spec requires.
